What is Caption?

When you read newspapers or magazines, you will see pictures or images and there is a text below the picture/image. The text describing the picture/image is called caption. It helps us understand what the picture/image is about. Captions can be found below or beside pictures, images, charts, tables, photographs, and graphs. In other words, caption is a brief description accompanying an illustration. It can consist of a few words of description or several sentences.

Parts of Caption

1. Lead

It is the title of the caption. It can be a noun phrase or a clause
