Caption to describe and to recount your events

Caption #4

 Caption can also be used to describe things, place, people, or any object. To do so, you need a picture or photograph then add the text below it. You will mainly use simple present tense to describe people, place, or any particular thing you want to describe. However, you may also use another tense when your description is presented in form of a narrative. You will see the example how present and past tense are used to describe The Diversity in form of narrative. 

Sample 1. Caption for describing thing

Sally asked her mother what diversity was.

Her mother described what diversity was to Sally.
"I have red hair, you have strawberry-blond hair, and your Dad has no hair."
Sally laughed at the way her mother said no hair. 
"Everyone's hair is different. Different colors, styles, lengths. It can be straight, curly, or in between. And sometimes it's not even there. 

"You are a girl and your little brother is a boy. You are both human but different. I am old and you are young. We are different ages."

"Your friend Jaylyn lives with her sister and father, and her mother lives in another state. They are a family just like us, but there are differences."

"You have a brother and she has a sister. You both have a father and mother at home,  Jaylyn only has a father.

"You like the color purple and your brother likes the color red. You both have a special color but the colors are different. You like soccer and your brother likes baseball. You both like sports but the sports are different."

"Mom, I understand, " Sally shouted.
"Even though these are the same, they are different and that is DIVERSITY. I like being different. I can't imagine everyone and everything being the same."

To describe the diversity using caption needs pictures then appended text below them. If you are asked to describe your house, it means you need to take pictures of your house, picture of your bed room, your guest room, your back and front yard, your kitchen, and other place that exists in your house. Then you put appended text to describe what is in the pictures.  What about if you are asked to describe a people, for example your sister or brother. What you need to describe a place such as Curug Cibeureum, or to describe a pet like a cat or a fish, or to describe your favorite cloth, or to describe yourself. Well you need to take pictures first then add text below each picture. So it becomes caption. 

Now, let's see how caption can be used to narrate a recount. What is recount? It is a text that tells past events, past experiences, the things that had been through. Who can tell a recount? It can be anyone. You can tell about your own experiences. You can also tell others experiences. For example, you tell your past events or experiences when you bought a flower for the fist time. I myself had an unforgettable experiences when I joined a writing competition.  I think, each of us have many personal, interesting, or maybe embarrassing experiences. 

Here is the recount of  mine who did hiking with my grandfather. I presented my recount in the form of narrative so that it is more engaging to read.

Sample 2. Caption to narrate a recount

I was lucky as my mother and I lived with my grandparents and I liked nothing better than to spend time with my grandfather. My grandfather was always making something and I enjoyed watching, learning, and sometimes even helping him finish whatever he was doing.

One day my grandfather made two walking sticks. I helped my grandfather finished the walking sticks. They were two of the most beautiful walking sticks I had ever seen. 

The next morning, I did not need an alarm to wake me, I was up, dressed, and ready to go as the sun  rose and the day began. I went to the kitchen and saw that my grandfather was busy packing sandwiches, water, snacks, and other items into our backpacks. It would be an all day hike my grandfather said. Then, our journey began. 

After a great breakfast and a long drove, we arrived at the base of a mountain and the beginning of the trail. It was a very beautiful morning. Grandpa explained that we were hiking to the very top of the mountain where we would have lunch, rested, maybe took a swim, and then hiked back down. I asked many questions as I hiked up the mountain. I asked what kind of three was that? Were the any other people up here? How high were we? What did we do if we got lost? Were the snakes? Were we there yet?

My grandfather answered all my questions the best he could and explained that we were in a very natural area. Not many people, all sorts of wild life, even bears. My grandfather helped me understand and respected the natural beauty around us, particularly the animals. He taught me how to use a compass, and things to help us be safer while we hiked.

Like before stepping over a log put my walking stick on the other side to let any animal, like a snake, know I were there. Whistle a song or make some noise to let the bigger animals know W was in their area. In a soft voice, my grandfather said that there were a few things to remember when I was hiking or anywhere for that matter. The Earth is our mother took care of her. All life is sacred; treat all life with respect. Take from the Earth what is needed and nothing more. Enjoy my journey but leaved no tracks. 

As we hiked a little farther, the forest opened and I saw the pond surrounded by large flat rocks. We had arrived, and it was almost like being in a different world. I picked a large rock that extended our into the water from us to rest on. It had been warmed by the sun and was the perfect place for lunch. As my grandfather unpacked the food, I leaned over and wigged my fingers in the cold water. Immediately several small fish came by and nibbled at my fingers.

 

After lunch and a resting period. we took a swim. The water was deep and I couldn't reach the bottom no matter hard I tried. It was wonderful day and I was saddened when I heard my grandfather said that it was time to dry off and began to hike down to the car. We took a different trail down the mountain. After a short time, the trail began blending into the surrounding bush and then disappeared. I was so scared, I thought we were lost. But grandfather ensured me that we were not lost. He suggested me to enjoy the surroundings.

As we continued down I told my grandfather that I had a problem at school and I didn't know who to talk to. My grandfather said that he was to promise that anything we talked about would stay between us and that he would not get angry or talk to me as my grandfather, but rather as an old friend. We began to talk. Soon we were at the bottom of the mountain and packing the car. Before leaving, my grandfather said that anytime I needed him as my friend, just picked up my walking stick and asked to go on a hike, it would be our secret code. I thought that was the day ever. I was with my grandfather, my new best friend, and I had a talking/walking stick. 

Well, those two examples allowed you to see that caption can be used to describe and to recount an events. Now, think about a thing, a people, or, place to describe and a series of events that you had experienced to be presented in a series of captions.
